How Nashta was created

An Unconventional Trip to Marrakech

In the beginning of 2024, we—a young couple from Austria—visited the colorful city of Marrakech. Immediately, we were enchanted by the vibrant streets of this historical city and the rich culture of Morocco. The narrow souks and unique interior architecture fascinated us.

Discovering. "The Original" Bag

Marrakech thrives on tourism, with its streets packed with hundreds of small stores selling handcrafted jewelry, pottery, and other goods. However, most seemed to offer the same products. After an exhausting day exploring the city, we spotted a bag that stood out. It was simple, well-made, and unlike any other bag we had seen. Naturally, we purchased "The Original."

Inspiration to Create a Brand

One of us—guess who—couldn't stop talking about the bag. She envisioned combining it with multiple outfits. Additionally, she showed it off to friends, who also fell in love and wanted one for themselves. At that moment, the idea was born. We wanted to share our experience of African culture and create a brand that embodies the beauty of Morocco.

How We Found the Perfect Name During a Cooking Class

As we pondered the brand and potential names, fate intervened during a Moroccan cooking class with a local family. They introduced us to their culture and taught us some words in the Moroccan dialect. We found the perfect name: "Nashta," the feminine expression of happiness. Although "Nasht" is the male version and "Nashtin" the plural, we opted for NASHTA, as it all began with one happy girl.

A hectic final day

A few days after purchasing our first bag, we returned to the shop to learn more about the local store. Younes, the owner, immediately embraced the idea and shared everything about his products. Since we wanted to take more bags with us, we requested them by the following morning to catch our flight home. As Younes produces all his products himself, he worked tirelessly through the night to fulfill our request. When we collected them, he was enthusiastic about future collaboration.

The future of NASHTA

With the brand “NASHTA”, we aim to bring the Moroccan way of life to Europe and give everyone the opportunity to experience the extraordinary culture. It's a project that allows us to unleash our creativity, and we're uncertain where the journey will take us. We're open to whatever the future holds and eagerly anticipate your company on this journey.
